Serge Doussantousse is a French altruistic globetrotter. After graduating from the Nursing School at Hôpital de la Salpêtrière in Paris, he swiftly redirected his interests and studies towards Tropical Medicine, Statistics, and Epidemiology, ultimately earning a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington in Seattle, USA.
His early career was marked by 20 years with Médecins Sans Frontières, mostly fieldwork across Africa and Southeast Asia, primarily focusing on AIDS programs, which were major global health emergencies at the time. In 1996, he relocated to Vietnam and subsequently Laos (2002), where he worked on various programs and consultancies for organizations such as the United Nations International Drug Control Program (UNDCP), Save the Children Fund, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization.
Since the early 2000s, Serge Dessantousse has concentrated his studies and private research on environmental issues and plastic pollution. In 2011, he founded Green Vientiane to advocate for and act upon the reduction of plastic pollution in Vientiane and Laos.
