Nonkho Market Initiative with Agences Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) and Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) to reduce plastic waste

The Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) has engaged Green Vientiane to gain a deeper understanding of the situation faced by vendors at Vientiane's largest fresh produce market and to investigate why these merchants, predominantly women, distribute a significant quantity of single-use plastic bags. Observation, information sharing, and communication were central to this mission. Econox has been recruited to collaborate with us in this endeavor.

World Health Organization 2023-24

Waste Management practices (medical and general) in hospitals

The World Health Organization (WHO) has engaged Green Vientiane to assist four healthcare facilities in Vientiane in enhancing their waste management practices, both medical and general. Senior staff members have been encouraged to take responsibility rather than leaving cleanliness to lower-level employees. The initiatives for sorting and recycling have empowered the staff to maintain a cleaner and more sustainable hospital environment. We utilized photos of their workplace to demonstrate the reality of cleanliness and hygiene. We consider the project to be a success.

UNDP 2022-23

Recycling bins in minimarts in Laos

With the support of the UNDP, Green Vientiane introduces Baby Bins, an innovative solution to promote recycling in Minimarts. Installed at the store entrances, these bins enable customers and staff to collect single-use plastic bottles and aluminum cans. This initiative raises awareness and promotes sustainable waste management practices in Laos.
